Here's a picture I took in about 1994. My girlfriend and I were on holiday in Edinburgh, so I made a small pilgrimage to the top of the Royal Mile, to see if I could find a certain fountain/plaque that is mentioned in Deadspawn (page 24 in my beaten old copy)

<img src=http://www.geocities.com/pybobsweb/fountain.jpg alt="Innit clever! lol">

Apologies if the quality of the picture is poor - but hey - I never imagined that one day I'd be posting it on the net.

(and anyway, my girlfriend took the picture, not me..in the original I was stood to the left of the plaque looking pleased with myself..needless to say, I cut myself out for this)

So - I just thought I'd post this because I thought some of you might find it interesting..

(Once again, if this has been successful, thanks go to Pybob for the neccessary arcane trickery to put the pic up)

Where at the top of the Royal Mile is that plaque located??

I spent a day of my (and my partners) 10th anniversary, about a month and a half ago, hunting for it. I even took her into the 'Witchery' (£80! Ouch!! Wonderful food though) in the vain hope that it was in the restaurant’s back-yard!! I was quite upset when I could not find it. I'm usually spot-on when it comes to 'locating'. Damn that mind-fog.

I was actually going to ask if anyone on the board knew where it was!! I guess you named yourself quite aptly. "SpOOk"y happenstance indeed.

FYI I visited the “Camera Obscura” on Castle Hill at the top of the Royal Mile (for anyone who hasn’t been it is Edinburgh's oldest attraction, a giant Victorian walk-in Camera tower) and the guide told me that when they drained the witches pond (off Princes Street) they had to remove over 300 bodies of the innocent (and guilty) people who died there…

Anyone else been to Lumley locations?? Any photos?

I’ve got a picture of Horden (harden) Trust, as mentioned in “Dagons Bell”. I read a lot of that story ‘in situ’. A bonus. My girlfriend is a “Seaham Lass”, of very pure blood. Not a bactrachian in the family…., honest.

I’m hoping to avoid the ‘Insmouth Look’. http://www.brianlumley.com/ubb/wink.gif

TOPOL. Any nice pictures of Greece??

If I can find the ‘Harden’ photos, I’ll post them here.

Talk later,

‘Shroom.

HA! I've found it!!

A note to fellow Lumlians undertaking this particular quest.

Head up the Royal Mile, keeping the Castle directly ahead of you. At the very top, just before you enter the Castle's forecourt (where they hold the Tattoo) look on your right. The plaque is located on the side wall of the Distillery (sp) building.

Great...
