Nathan meant that the trailer is being played before some new film release at the moment. I can't remember the actual film title though.
It happened with a trailer for the last Star Wars film.
People paid to go and see the trailer, and most left before the main feature came on.
Its a good advertising stunt for the Studios to pull. Put an exclusive preview to drag in the crowds for a maybe crappy main film.

Just saw the long trailer for this at the Harry Potter movie! Man, it looks AWESOME!!
Now I gotta zip through the last 200 pages of The Goblet of Fire so I can re-read The Fellowship of the Ring in the next three weeks!
(See this topic title for my sentiments...as if you couldn't tell!) :D

Looking good!
I don't even mind them tinkering around with the plot, which is unusual for me, so long as they don't change anything fundamental! It's going to be a real eye-fest.
I think Pete Jackson is doing a very brave thing.
Roll on LOTR.
I'm also looking forward to all the shonky "Sci-fi/Fantasy" flicks that are destined to follow in it's (and Harry Potters) wake. Prepare for low budget cheese! I suggest a re-make of "Hawk The Slayer". Great.
'He wastes his time, and mine'!
Bring on the gargantuan Bernard Breslaw (CGI).

Hey! Did any of you living in the States see that special last night on FOX?
Ohhhh, can't wait for sure now! It was a special on the director, cast, location (New Zealand... gorgeous!!!), etc. Plus a sneak preview of them in Moria (might have messed up spelling..lol) and the fight with the Orcs. Going to be an excellent film!
I didn't know either that they filmed all three movies at the same time, great idea though, keeps everyone fresh in their minds with their characters. 2 years in the making.
The only thing though is on the ending credits, they said premier was on the 19th! Might be a mistake though seeming that is on a Wednesday... strange day for it.

yeah it does look good, morning TV has been interviewing various members of the cast etc this week, showing clips etc. Nothing quite beats the trailers at the cinema though...
I just hope that the minor plot alterations in the first film dont mess up the film too much and annoy the "true fans of the book"... im certain the re scripting was only to ensure liv tyler was in the first film "fellowship of the ring" whereas she doesnt actually appear in the book until "return of the king".
i think apart from that its going to be a very good film. im just looking forward to seeing the balrog, having seen the clips of gandalf on the bridge at kazadum, im just itching to see "the old balrog in his finest.

Dang, I missed it! I was suffering yet another rerun of Friends, unaware of this! :(
I had heard not to long ago that they had made all three at once which is a great idea. I only wish more fim makers would do that sort of thing.
It would also be nice if they would release them closer together though. Someone told me that the next two Matrix sequels were being made together and released within four months of each other...wouldn't that be nice with these too?
I won't be too critical of the changes that were made. As long as Aragorn and Borimir still play out their little competition during the war, and Gimli and Legolas pull off their love/hate relationship. I've always had trouble deciding which of those four characters are my favorite...

I'm right there with you N8. As much channel surfing as I do, how did I miss that? How could I have watched part of the Friends re-run and the Survivor re-hash without getting bored enough to find that special?????
Actually, I'm not too disappointed the LOTR films are being released only a year apart. That's still much shorter than most sequels. I had not heard that the Matrix sequels were going to be released so close together. I loved the first film and I'm really looking forward to these sequels.
Sounds like the next couple of years are going to be good ones at the cinemas!

Heh heh, here I am, one who rarely watches TV, heck I don't even have cable and I am the only one who caught the special! LOL
But getting back to the topic.. already have me date set up for dinner & a movie, and as I know it will be different than the books, I am not going to be disappointed to that fact as I am interested in how the movie is to be presented and I will enjoy every second of it.
I will always have the books to read (Thanks to Jase! :-D) if I want the true version! The scenery is going to be just gorgeous I know as New Zealand is one beautiful island!
Ohh, come on whatever day it drops on!!!

Just read a review in one of the local North East newspapers and the reviewer said he couldn't find one fault with this film.Says it's the best film he's ever seen...and he ain't one to give a good review normally,so I can't wait to sit through this film.Just hope it lives up to his review.Well, only three more days to go.
