just a quick heads up to everyone out there that the board will be changing in the near future. I am working on the new scripts now, recently purchased from vBulletin, and will be tweaking them to get them where they need to be.

There will be a test board most likely for a period of time while we tweak things to make sure all is running right before I move/import the current board into the new forum - thus creating the new Brian Lumley.com Community. Hope you are all looking forward to the changes... keep an eye out! grin.gif

Things are going well - still trying to decide whther we want to import all the current posts or start from scratch. Also need to get the new subscriptions and Board features and graphics all up and running before we do it. I want this to be as seamless as every other upgrade we have done over the years has been.

Patience... not a virtue of mine either, but we should try. grin.gif

Thanks Shadoe. (Can we call you 'shad' for short?!! grin.gif ) It seems that what you're proposing is a bit of an Herculean effort. I think - and has this been mentioned before? - that a retrievable archive for one and all would be the way to go, as well as introducing new forum(s). Scratches head in stupid way whilst swatting invisible flies!!! :eek:

Oh yeah, it's been mentioned - by just a few people here. ;) I sort of want to start all over and have everyone reregister. Honestly it will be the easiest way and will still be a smooth transition.

I hate to say it though - i want to dummp the old board once we get moved over. If archived, it will be shut down for new posts, but still need to be up and running - so to speak, basically making it an archive that could fail at some point. it also makes you have to jump back and forth between the forums if you want to search for information or anything else.

Importing will be the easiest way to keep everything consistent, just maybe not the easiest process, but as I said, still haven't decided. Once I know - you all will know. smile.gif

In that case, do it! That's my personal opinion. Dump the old board and start over again with everyone having to re-register. Whatever floats everyone else's boat is what counts in the end, I s'pose. :confused:
Two questions though: Will we be able to re-register under a different handle? And will the present post-counts remain, or does the counter return to zero?

i'd like to change my username as it no longer applies to me really as it was a mixture of me & my ex's name which i get reminded about everytime i sign in, so im all for starting from scratch shadoe!
thats my 2 bobs worth!!! ;)
